This is why we do what we do.
Yesterday Tanya, my legal assistant, said: “This is why we do what we do.”
She held out a paper in her hand. An obituary. A couple – he 55 and she 53 – killed in a car wreck this week. Six kids and two grandkids. That’s not supposed to happen. But it does.
The husband’s brother is one of my friends, and I know their parents. That brings the deaths home to me.
Whenever I hear of people younger than me dying, I pause. That’s not supposed to happen. Of course, it makes me realize I could be next.
So, yes, this is why we do what we do. Our clients probably won’t need their estate planning to be in order for a long time. But we want to help them – and their families – be prepared if the unexpected happens.
