Covid-19 Response Plan and Updates

This information was last updated June 2, 2021.

Message from Keith Tokerud and Jon S. McCarty regarding Covid-19:

We have all been impacted in some way by the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), and we hope you and your family are doing well. We want to touch base to provide an update on the status of our office and how we are handling matters with our clients.

We are open for business and will continue to provide our clients with the same high standard of legal services you have come to rely upon, while continuously monitoring the situation and taking guidance from state and federal authorities.

When the pandemic caused Governor Bullock to issue the shelter in place order, we stopped seeing clients in our office and instituted virtual appointments by telephone and videoconferencing. This went pretty well. We were able to handle initial meetings and follow-up meetings, draft documents for clients in accordance with their needs, and go over those documents with them all by telephone or video conferencing. For signing the documents, we instituted drive-up or curbside meetings where we met clients in the parking lot outside our office. For those folks who were out of town or unable to make a drive-up meeting, we  mailed the documents out to them with arrangements for them to have their signatures be witnessed and notarized.

While we will continue to offer virtual appointments and drive-up signing meetings, we have also reopened our office for in-person appointments and walk-ins.

The health and safety of all our clients and advisers who want to meet with us in person remains our highest concern. While at our office, you can be assured that we are taking proper steps to minimize risk. These include staff vaccination, sanitization, social distancing, a protocol that is in place for the use of the conference room, and the wearing of masks inside our office when asked.

In these uncertain times, one thing remains certain, and that is the importance of estate planning. We do not advise you to postpone your estate planning or to postpone changes or updates to your existing estate plan. The need for a good estate plan is more essential than ever.
