Our 2020 Reminder to Relax and Enjoy Life (Whenever & However You Can)

This year has been hard for so many of us. The pandemic has changed the way we live in dramatic ways, while adding both worry and loneliness to the stress of a major election year. As the year comes to a close, however, we are so grateful for our health, for each other and for our clients and our trusted advisors. We'd like to take a moment to remind you to care for yourselves by sharing some of our favorite ways to unwind and decompress.

“As a Type-A personality, I tend to get overwhelmed and anxious when the unexpected comes up – such as the presidential election drama and the uncharted COVID – 19 territory. One of the best ways that I relax and reduce my anxiety levels is exercise. I do a weight-training session every morning before I start my workday, and then I make sure to get in some cardio in the evenings, to work out all the stress of the day. I also really enjoy reading and playing video games, as it gives me something else to focus my attention on. My 4-year old, Theo, is the best part of my whole day, and he definitely brings more joy to my life, especially on the hard days.” - Charlene

"When I feel like my life is chaos and there's no end to the madness, these sweet faces get me through the day." - LaTonya

“My biggest challenge in this crazy year of 2020 has been going to the grocery store once a week before I head home. Wearing a mask for that long and having your glasses continually fogging is a real test. For someone who loves the quiet and space of the outdoors, 2020 and social distancing hasn’t changed my personal life too much. But the weekends provide me a break from “mask wearing”. My husband and I spend most of our weekend time on a horse and training our new foal.” - Chris

"As an over-thinker it's incredibly difficult for me to shut down my racing thoughts, especially under stress. When you can't leave the house, it's even harder! When I'm ready to relax I grab one of three things: the remote (to shamelessly binge watch anything on Netflix or Hulu), my headphones (to listen to my favorite podcasts), or a great book! I really like to have something I can dive into, giving me a break from the wildness of 2020. When I'm craving connection, which has become hard to find this year due to social distancing, I call my nephew who is surprisingly good at holding a 45-minute-long conversation." - Danica
